Occasionally the ceramic axis can break. Then the complete impeller unit needs to be replaced. The replacement is simple, although it may be tricky to reach the lower rubber bearing in the filter head. The JBL impeller bearing pulling aid kit can help to remove it. It is also useful to clean the impeller well with a small brush on a regular basis since a lot of dirt settles there and reduces the filter performance.
